What Is Form I-751?
Form I-751 is used by conditional permanent residents who obtained their green card through marriage to request removal of the conditions on their permanent residence.
Conditional green cards are typically valid for two years. Before the card expires, the conditional resident must file Form I-751 to request a 10-year permanent resident card.
Who May Qualify?
Common situations include:
• Conditional residents filing jointly with their U.S. citizen or permanent resident spouse
• Conditional residents requesting a waiver of the joint filing requirement due to divorce, abuse, or hardship
